About Angie
Helping people move from survival mode to a more connected and meaningful life.
Hi, I’m Angie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and co-owner of Thrive in Vida Counseling.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and the lingering impact of difficult life experiences. Many of the people I work with have been carrying things on their own for a long time before deciding to reach out for support.

Therapy offers a space to slow down and understand what’s happening beneath the surface, whether that’s overwhelming emotions, persistent anxiety, painful memories, or patterns that feel hard to change.
My goal is to create a space that feels steady, supportive, and collaborative. I’m not here to judge or analyze you from a distance. I’m here to work alongside you as we make sense of your experiences and support your healing.

For children and adolescents, therapy focuses on helping them feel safe expressing emotions, building coping skills, and making sense of experiences that may feel confusing or overwhelming.

I provide therapy in English and Spanish and value culturally responsive care that respects each person’s background, identity, and lived experiences.
Areas I Commonly Help With
Clients often seek therapy for concerns such as:
-
Anxiety and chronic stress
-
Depression or low mood
-
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
-
Relationship and family challenges
-
Self-esteem and self-criticism
-
Life transitions and identity shifts
-
Trauma and difficult past experiences
My Approach
My work integrates trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches that support both the mind and the nervous system. These may include:
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
-
Somatic and nervous system–based approaches
-
Parts-informed and relational trauma work
-
Mindfulness and grounding techniques
These approaches help the brain and body process difficult experiences so that they no longer carry the same emotional weight.
My Philosophy
Many of the patterns people struggle with today developed as ways to survive difficult circumstances.

Therapy is not about “fixing” what’s broken. It’s about understanding those survival strategies with compassion and helping the system learn that it no longer has to stay in survival mode.
Healing often begins when we become curious about our experiences instead of fighting against them.
Specialty: Trauma and Dissociation
A significant part of my work focuses on complex trauma and dissociation.

Trauma doesn’t only live in memories. It can show up in the body, in emotional reactions that feel confusing or overwhelming, or in the sense that different parts of us are trying to cope in different ways.

Some clients notice internal conflict, moments of feeling disconnected from themselves, or experiences where their mind seems to “shut down” when stress becomes too intense. These are often signs of dissociation, a natural survival response that develops when the mind has had to cope with overwhelming experiences.

In therapy, we approach these experiences with patience and curiosity rather than judgment. Understanding the inner world, how emotions, memories, and protective patterns interact, can help people move from simply surviving toward feeling more grounded and connected to themselves.
