About Gaby
Helping individuals and couples build stronger, more connected relationships.
Hi, I’m Gaby, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate and co-owner of Thrive in Vida Counseling. I work with adults and couples who are navigating challenges such as relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the impact of past relational wounds.
Many people come to therapy because something inside feels difficult to make sense of, patterns in relationships keep repeating, emotions feel overwhelming, or connection with themselves or others begins to feel distant.Therapy offers a space to slow down, explore what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin creating meaningful and lasting change.
I aim to create a space that feels warm, thoughtful, and collaborative. My role is not to judge or “fix” you, but to walk alongside you as you explore your experiences, better understand your patterns, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that deserve care and attention.
I provide therapy in English and Spanish and value culturally responsive care that honors each person’s identity, lived experiences, and the systems that shape our relationships and emotional lives.
Areas I Commonly Help With
Clients often seek therapy for concerns such as:
-
Relationship conflict or disconnection
-
Infidelity and rebuilding trust
-
Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
-
Depression or feeling stuck
-
Life transitions such as divorce, grief, or major changes
-
Self-worth and relationship patterns
-
Family dynamics and unresolved family wounds
My Approach
My work integrates relational, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approaches that support both emotional insight and meaningful change. These may include:
-
Emotionally focused and attachment-based therapy
-
The Gottman Method for couples therapy
-
Trauma-informed and relational processing
-
Mindfulness and grounding practices
-
Reflective exploration of relationship and family patterns
These approaches help clients move beyond simply talking about challenges and instead develop deeper awareness, new emotional experiences, and healthier ways of connecting with others.
My Philosophy
I believe that many of the patterns we struggle with in relationships developed as ways to protect ourselves. What once helped us cope may no longer serve the life or relationships we want today.
Therapy offers a space to understand those patterns with compassion while building new ways of relating, with more clarity, intention, and connection.
Healing is not about becoming someone new. It’s about reconnecting with who you are and creating relationships that feel more honest, supportive, and aligned with the life you want to live.
Specialty: Relationships and Relational Healing
A significant part of my work focuses on helping individuals and couples understand how past relational experiences shape present relationships.
Our early relationships often influence how we communicate, how we respond to conflict, and how safe we feel being emotionally vulnerable with others. When relationships feel strained or painful, it can bring up deeper fears of rejection, abandonment, or not feeling fully understood.
In therapy, we explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion. Together, we work to strengthen communication, rebuild trust when it has been broken, and create new ways of relating that feel more secure, connected, and supportive.
For individuals, this often means exploring the roots of relationship patterns and learning how to show up differently in relationships, with partners, family members, and themselves.
